Wishing and hoping and thinking and praying...

I'm committing this dream to God. It's so cool to think that God has given each of us the ability to dream and create and that He wants to be a part of everything we do! I think that dreaming and praying should go hand in hand and I want to co-author this dream with God.

It's funny, even though a dream is something that can be as big as the dreamer can imagine it to be, I feel a sort of resistance on how big my own dream can become. Maybe it's schooling...the weekly pounding of books and reason...that makes me doubt the potential of my dream or maybe it's just me doubting myself. I have, after all, failed to follow through with dreams before. Whatever the reason, I can feel the doubt. It's a rain cloud over my head that's keeping me from seeing the sun...but that doesn't mean that the sun isn't there. I guess seeing the sun even when it's cloudy is something called hope. So, for the sake of hope I will continue to dream and in doing so, I plan to dream big. Here's to hope!

Since my hope is to create a roadtrip adventure while answering questions that a college graduate might have along the way, I have devised a set of categories that I think might encompass some of the questions of a graduate.

Dreamin Big

Brian Herzlinger
Creator of "My Date With Drew" and fellow dreamer

I loved "My Date With Drew", a documentary about a guy with a dream to meet Drew Barrymore. I saw this documentary over the summer and absolutely loved it. Not only did the documentary inspire me to dream, but it also got me excited about taking seizing opportunities. How did Brian do the later? He won $1,100 on a game show and decided to buy a camera from Circuit City with a 30-day return policy and set out to do his best to meet Drew. I love Brian's ambition and I know that his experience could serve as an encouragement to the college graduate.

Getting Healthy

Jack LaLanne
The godfather of physical fitness

Freshmen 15 anyone? It's something I'm sad to say that I carry around and would be happy to get rid of. Who better to get advice from than the godfather of physical education? How honored I would be to meet Mr. LaLanne!

Managing Money

Suze Orman
Personal finance expert

One very important thing that my college education failed to teach me is how to handle my finances. Sure, I dealt with numbers in college algebra and paying bills as a senior living off campus in my own house, but when it comes to understanding credit and fico scores I am at a loss! In that case, who better to ask for financial advice than Suze Orman? She's even got a book especially written for young adults titled The Money Book For The Young, Faulous, and Broke.

Dressin' for Impressin'

Stacy London
Fashionista and host of What Not To Wear

Most college students have perfected the sweat pants and a t-shirt look. Although they may know how to dress things up for an evening out, when it comes to dressing to impress on an interview or in a professional setting, college students can be at a loss. Jeans are a staple in my daily wardrobe and when I consider the realm of business casual I tend to get a little intimidated. Seeing as Stacy is the host of "What Not To Wear", I see it as only natural to want to get fashion advice from her as I prepare to enter the world of button-up blouses and high heels.

Zygote Dream

I have a big dream. It involves an RV, a grant, a camera, a few college graduates, ambition, and a quest for knowledge. I am a college senior and when I graduate in May I don't know what I'll be doing. There are so many questions that college has helped to answer-about myself, about life, about academics-and yet so many that are left unaswered...the biggest one revolving around what to do after I graduate.

I'm sure you're wondering...how does this dream work into all this? Even if you're not wondering this, I'm going to give you the answer. I want to help myself and other college graduates by asking questions and getting answers about life in the real world. And the RV? One word: Roadtrip. It's undeniable. Roadtrips can do so much for the young adult. They are like a right of passage. What better way is there to combine adventure, independence, not to mention frustration (Ever gotten lost on one? I know I have....) all the while making memories that you'll hold dear forever?

For this reason, as well as wanting to see the country in slower motion than I could via plane, my dream has to include the aspect of roadtrip. Last summer I ventured from California to Connecticut with my frind Julie and we had an amazing time. I don't think that I have driven as much or visited as many public restrooms in a five day period of time since...or ever.

Car singing is always a roadtrip essential. Ironhide, our trip's mascot.
One of the many public restrooms we visited. Challenging the traffic laws of the mid-west.

Right now I am in the zygote stage of developing this dream and I am excited to see how it will take shape as time goes on. Here goes nothing...!
